When the Parliament of Canada is in session, I spend part of my week in Ottawa exercising the legislative role that the citizens of Brossard – Saint-Lambert entrusted in me. I am Vice-Chair (usually, in the Westminster parliamentary tradition, this committee is always chaired by the Official Opposition) of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (PACP) and I am also a member of the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates (OGGO).
PACP members review the work of the Auditor General of Canada. The Committee is concerned with government administration, such as the efficacy of delivering programmes and services, as well as respecting government policies, directives and standards. The Committee does not examine the merits of a policy, its mandate is to make the government accountable for public administration and the use of public funds. Since 2015, the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (PACP) has submitted 70 unanimous reports to the House of Commons.
