This year, as we approach the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will once again celebrate Canada Day in a more virtual and distanced manner in order to ensure the health of our communities. While we celebrate Canada Day, we must also recognize that for some, Canada Day is not yet a day of celebration. Today, while we celebrate our country and our people, let’s recommit to doing the work to right past wrongs, and building a better future for everyone. Please stay tuned for a statement and video from the Prime Minister https://pm.gc.ca/en/news/statements/2021/07/01/statement-prime-minister-canada-day
We also invite you to wear an orange shirt in solidarity with Indigenous communities across Canada and to learn more about the Residential School System and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.
