Reflections on the Indigenous Children
June 1, 2021
A sober and poignant debate tonight, June 1st, in the House of Commons. Emotional and heart-wrenching to hear the Minister of Indigenous Services, the Hon. Marc Miller, evoke the names of some of the lost children...
With her permission, I quote my colleague
Christine Normandin, Member of Parliament for Saint-Jean, who asked a question that cut me to the quick:
"(...) presently, one nation is walking with its back bent by the heaviness of the history it carries, and the other nation is walking with its eyes peeled to the ground in shame. (Can we) hope that one day these two nations will be able to overcome the pain and look each other straight in the eyes, proud and upright?"
